Catalina Island Health’s Patrick Brayall, PT, DPT explains how movement and exercise are beneficial for our overall wellbeing and can even help reduce anxiety and depression. A recent study shows that taking 8,000 steps a day can reduce mortality by up to 50%. Wear your mask and go for a walk outside or find creative ways to move inside your home.
Remember, if your body isn't accustomed to exercise, start slow with 5-10 minutes a day. Watch the video to see Patrick demonstrate two levels of physical exercises that can be done in the comfort of your own home, with no special equipment.
Workout 1 - Beginner Level
Repeat Circuit a Total of 4 Times
- Box Squat: 10-15 Reps
- Plank: 15-30 Seconds
- Push Up: 10-15 Reps
- One Arm Row: 10-15 Reps
Workout 2 - Advanced Level
Repeat Circuit a Total of 4 Times
- Single Leg Box Squat: 10-15 Reps
- Plank Shoulder Tap: 30-45 Seconds
- Full Push Up: 10-20 Reps
- One Arm Row: 10-15 Reps
