Need Help Paying Your Hospital Bill?

If you are unable to pay your hospital's medical bills, you may be eligible to have some, or all of the bill waived as Charity Care under California's Fair Pricing Policies for Hospitals law.

What is Charity Care?

Charity Care exists to help families avoid financial catastrophe and exists to help qualified Californians who are unable to pay the bills associated with their hospital care.

Who is Eligible for Charity Care?

  • Uninsured patients
  • Insured patients
  • Patients regardless of immigration status
  • People with health insurance may qualify for discounts

Catalina Island Health offers Charity Care (discounts or bill forgiveness based on income qualifications). CI Health has partnered with Dollar For, a non-profit, to help you apply online, for free.

Policies and More

The Hospital Bill Complaint Program is a state program that reviews hospital decisions about whether you qualify for help paying your hospital bill. If you believe you were wrongly denied financial assistance, you may file a complaint with the Hospital Bill Complaint Program.
